The Roman Empire: A brief review

1. Fall
1.1. The fall of Rome did not occur in a single day; rather, it occurred over a protracted period of time. The empire began to crumble for a variety of reasons. Here are some of the reasons behind the Roman Empire's demise.
2. Rise
2.1. After 450 years as a republic, Rome became an empire following Julius Caesar's rise and fall in the first century B.C. With his long and illustrious reign, Augustus, the country's first emperor, ushered in a golden age of peace and prosperity.
3. Characteristics
3.1. The widespread usage of Romance languages (Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Romanian) developed from Latin.
3.2. The present Western alphabet and calendar, and the establishment of Christianity as a dominant world religion are just a few of the numerous legacies of Roman domination.
