1. RENEWABLE AND NON RENEWABLE RESOURCES

1.1. SOURCE - where something comes from.

1.2. NON-RENEWABLE - cannot be replaced when it runs out.

1.3. RENEWABLE - does not get used up or can be replaced.

1.4. FOSSIL FUEL - a fuel formed from the buried remains of plants and animals that lived millions of years ago.

1.5. RADIOACTIVE - material that emits high-energy gamma rays, alpha or bet aparticles.

1.6. PHOTOVOLTAIC CELL -a special battery which converts the energy from the sun into electrical energy.

2. HEAT TRANSFER

2.1. HEAT - a type of energy which makes things feel warm.

2.2. THERMOMETER - an instrument used to measure temperature.

3. CONDUCTION

3.1. CONDUCTION - the transfer of heat through an object.

3.2. CONDUCTOR - material that transfers heat well by conduction.

3.3. INSULATOR - a material that does not transfer heat wellby conduction.

4. RADIATION

4.1. RADIATION - the transfer of heat through empty space.

4.2. REFLECTOR - an object and material that reflects heat.

5. POTENTIAL AND KINETIC ENERGY

5.1. SYSTEM -set of parts that work together.

5.2. POTENTIAL ENERGY - stored energy.

5.3. KINETIC ENERGY - the energy in moving things.

5.4. MECHANICAL SYSTEM - non-living system with moving parts.

5.5. THERMAL SYSTEM - a system that stores and transfers heat energy.

5.6. ELECTRICAL ENERGY - a system that uses electrical energy to work.

7. CONVECTION

7.1. CONVECTION - the transfer of heat through water or air.

7.2. CONVECTION CURRENT - current of hot air or liquid caused by heat rising.
