The discovery of America 1.3

1. Ferdinand, the prince of Aragon, and Isabella, the princes of Castile, married each other in secret and deided that theri countries should work closely together.

2. Colombus got three ships from the kin d and queen: the Santa Maria, the Pinto and the Nina.

3. On 12th october 1492 a youn sailor named Rodrigo de Triana yelled that he saw land. Columbus named the island San Salvador.

4. Columbus continued his expedition when he came by another island that he called Hispaniola.

5. Until the day that Columbus died, in 1506, he believed that he discovered a new road to Asia. The Italian Amerigo Vespucci found out that Columbus had find a way to a new world.

6. The Moors were Muslims and teh enemies from ferdinand and Isabella. They had conquered parts of the Iberian Peninsula. This war was called the Reconquista.

7. Christopher Columbus was a men who was sailor at the age of 10. He discovered America by luck. He wanted to come at the western side of Asia, he called the people who lived in America Indians.

8. On 6th september 1492, the ships leaved the port. After a few weeks the men of Columbus became insecure and impatient, Columbus made them believe they were closer to home than they thought.
