1. Timeliness

1.1. Look for the data the item was published ,then apply some common sense.

1.2. If the dates on the website are current, you have a clue that the site is updated on a regular basis.

2. Evenness

2.1. Does the author recognize other points of view.

2.2. Does the author appear to have a bias in one direction?

3. Coverage

3.1. Does the source provide info that is relevant to your needs?

3.2. Does it support what you have found in other websites?

4. Authority

4.1. Another way you can tell if a website is fake is after the dot.A .com is commercial, .edu is education, etc.

4.2. Have you ever seen or heard the authors name before?what have you read about the author?Think about it ,If you've never heard or seen this author then maybe they don't exists.

5.1. Does the author include citations,footnotes, or a bibliography?

5.2. Insist that the Web site can back up what it says with sources.

6. Purpose

6.1. Is this source intended to entertain or to sell you something?

6.2. Always look for a mission or purpose statement, typically in a link called About Us.
