Estimation by Mind Map: Estimation

1. How it's different from regular planning?

2. 3 point

2.1. Pessimistic

2.2. Most likely

2.3. Optimistic

2.4. Is proxy based estimation

3. T shirt

3.1. Use t shirt sizes, almost like storypoints

3.2. Best for initial estimation, less accurate than storypoints.

3.3. Easy to use for teams new to agile

3.4. Is proxy based estimation

4. Total estimate calculated as (P + ML + O) / 3. Also can be calculated using weights to fit normal distribution (P + 4*ML + O) / 6 This estimation in total more accurate than just story points

5. Basically the same as storypoints, relative estimation. Not easy to sum different sizes to get total.

6. Count and compute

7. Accurate, but requires data to use for count or computation. Useful for estimation group of similar tasks

8. WBS(work breakdown structure)

9. Table with columns of module, feature, epic etc, rows are user stories. Each cell contains estimate of current story in module

10. Group expert judgement

11. Critical chain method

12. Used to determine how long takes to finish group of tasks with consideration of parallel work. It's the same as critical path, but takes into account limited resources(team size)

13. Velocity - how much work completed in sprint

14. Focus factor - how much time employee spent on project, rate(full time, part time)

15. Capacity - how much work can be planed for future sprint(considering previous sprints results)
