Geography by Mind Map: Geography

1. Food are grown on fertile soils, such as rice, berries, vegetables, etc.

2. Tempurate Climate

3. Tropical Climate

4. Polar Climate

5. Climates

6. Soils must be fertile enough to grow plants. Places like the desert have dry soils. Some other soils may hold a lot of acid. Places that are moist have the most fertile soil.

7. This climate is between the poles and the equator. It is warm and/or cool with moderate precipitation.

8. The currents that are closer to the equator flow warm water away to the arctic, whilst the cold water from the arctic flow back into the equator.

9. Ocean Currents

10. Mountains on higher altitudes have cooler temperature than in lower altitudes. That is because there is less oxygen, so less heat gets trapped.

11. Mountains

12. Areas near water bodies will have more moisture, called continental climate. The temperatures are more extreme; cold winters and hot summers, Places far away from water bodies have mild temperatures; warm summers and cool winters.

13. Water Bodies

14. The wind blows away the moisture, making it very dry.

15. The equator is where the sun's rays are the strongest.

16. Latitude

17. The Effects:

18. It has lots of snow and very cold. It has a long winter and very short summer. Polar climate is far away from the equator.

19. It is very hot with little precipitation. Tropical climate is caused by the sun's rays, which make it very hot. Hot air rises and cool air sinks. It blows away the moisture in the air.

20. Moving Air

21. Shield Regions are made of igneous and metamorphic rock.

22. Plains and Lowland Regions are formed by eroded material, soldified into sedimentary rock.

23. Fold Mountain Regions are formed by 2 plates squeezing against each other. The rocks in the middle are folded so that it rises and causes a mountain.

24. Tsunamis

25. Extremely strong winds made from hurricanes or cyclones are tropical storms.

26. Tornadoes occur when warm and cold air collide and begins to spin. More wind will turn it vertical, and it'll suck things up and get bigger.

27. Earthquakes occur when a chunk of Earth splits up and hits another block of Earth. It will release and cause an Earthquake.

28. Tsunamis occur when a piece of Earth suddenly slips under an ocean, and causes a shockwave which creates a tsunami.
