1. Learning Theories

1.1. _____Connectivism____

1.1.1. Learning exists in the world and not in the head of the individual

1.1.2. Learning is more critical than knowing

1.1.3. Learning rests in a diversity of opinions, not just one.

1.1.4. Implies that teachers must teach their students how to distinguish vital information from unimportant information.

1.1.5. Teachers must also help students to understand that there are different opinions on some subjects and that some topics are not just black and white.

1.1.6. Very technology based learning theory. Educators need to include more technology in lessons to allow students to make connections with different educational mediums

1.1.7. Students learn to find information for themselves using the connections they have made.

1.2. Cognitive Load

1.2.1. Teachers need to recognize the limitation of working memory in their students. When teachers realize what their students limitations are then they can design quality lessons for them.

1.2.2. Working memory is limited with respect to the amount of information it can hold

1.3. _____Constructivism_____

1.3.1. Self directed, creative and innovative learners

1.3.2. Prior knowledge and experience used to facilitate new knowledge.

1.3.3. The responsibility of learning does not rely solely on the teacher but mostly on the student.

1.3.4. Students must play an active role in their learning, teachers need to think of themselves as facilitators of knowledge

1.3.5. Teachers need to be able to have a more fluid lesson plan. The lesson should go in the direction that the students take it and doesn't have to follow a strict format.

2. TPACK

2.1. TPACK stands for Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge

2.2. Split into 7 components- Content, Pedagogy, Technology, Pedagogical Content Knowledge, Technological Content Knowledge, Technological Pedagogical Knowledge , and Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge.

2.3. Works to effectively integrate technology into teaching

2.5. Helps teachers who are unfamiliar with technology to connect it to their curriculum

3. Technology Theories

3.1. Media Ecology

3.1.1. Technology influences society in almost all ways.

3.1.2. Media is looked at as an environment

3.1.3. Humans are affected by technology. It shapes the way we think, or do things.

3.1.4. Many definitions and different interpretations

3.2. SCOT

3.2.1. Technology does not determine human action but human action determines technology

3.2.2. Draws on constructivist theories and is known as technological constructivism

3.2.3. Stands for Social Construction of technology

3.2.4. Teachers need to be flexible in their lessons as there are always multiple ways of constructing technology

4. Teachnology

4.1. Teachers personal philosophy about how they use technology as a teaching tool. Along the same lines as a Philosophy of Teaching but include how you will use technology.

4.2. Teachers can use this statement to set their goals for what they want their classes to accomplish and what they want to accomplish.

4.3. Technology is used as a bridge between content and the students
