1. 1. Using the SmartBoard, Students will create a notesheet on the group research they have conducted on the effects of pollution on the environment. Students will then copy the notes onto a sheet of paper. 2. Students will watch an educational video on the rainforests and the negative effects caused by pollution. Students will write a brief summary on what they learned in the video using teacher guided questions.

2.1. 1. Students will work together in teacher assigned groups to create a powerpoint on an influential historical leader 2. Students will work together to create a hotel that is located in an exotic area of the world, offers amenities, and is announcing their grand opening. Students will use Microsoft Publisher to describe their hotel and introduce it to the public.

3. Identifying Similarities and Differences

3.1. 1. Create a Venn Diagram on the computer to compare two different characters in a piece of literature. 2.Students view a powerpoint presentation consisting of different pictures of holiday traditions around the world to compare different traditions to those they personally celebrate.

4. Reinforcing Effort and Providing Recognition

4.1. 1. Students will create a video on positive character traits such as responsibility, honesty, effort, fairness, and more. The teacher will create an excel spreadsheet on which students' individual points will be kept. Students will be able to view the spreadsheet with teacher assistance and each day as a wrap-up, will reflect on points received and positive behavior and behavior to be improved for the next day.

5. Nonlinguistic Representations

5.1. 1. Students will learn about equivalent fractions using pictures of objects displayed on the SmartBoard such as a pizza, a box, a trapezoid, etc. to visualize how to create equal parts. 2. 6. Homework and Practice

6.1. 1. Students will create poems describing them personally. For homework, students will generate ideas on what is important to them, what they believe, what they like to pretend and play, etc. Students will then use the online poem generator found at: http://oakdome.com/k5/lesson-plans/word/i-am-poem.php courtesy of: K5 Generator to place their ideas to create a poem about themselves. 2. Students will practice typing and other important computer skills during weekly computer lab time.

8. Setting Objectives and Providing Feedback

8.1. 1.The teacher will place lesson objectives on the SmartBoard for students to refer to while working independently in the classroom. 2. The teacher will create a hardcopy and an online rubric for students and parents to access. The rubric will provide feedback for students on a writing assignment.

9. Generating and Testing Hypotheses

9.1. 1. Students will use the computer to type a hypothesis. This hypothesis will be a prediction of what would happen if there were no rules in school. Students will glue their hypotheses to a posterboard to be displayed in the hall to encourage students to view rules in a positive light. 2. Students will research various famous pieces of architecture using teacher-approved websites. Students will construct a model of this piece of architecture in their small group using available resources such as: toothpicks, cotton balls, contruction paper, paperclips, etc.

10. Cues, Questions, and Advance Organizers

10.1. 1. Students will create a graphic organizer using the templates on the website: http://wvde.state.wv.us/strategybank/GraphicOrganizers.html. Students will use their graphic organizer to create a literature piece on the importance of eating right and fitness. 2. When presenting a new lessons, the teacher will place key words in a powerpoint presentation and will have a audio cue as to when the next important key point is coming up. Students will understand what the lesson will be about and important vocabulary words.
