Give the students one scholarly periodical and one popular periodical in print. Have them compare and contrast the periodicals based on the following questions. After they are done have them decide which one is popular and which one is scholarly and why. Discuss the importance of these differences.

- What is the title?

- Describe the cover. Colors, font size, font type, language, design

- Who is the Publisher?

- What type of paper is it printed on?

- How often is it published?

- Are there pictures in the periodical? - Compare and contrast.
