Boxes for Katje by Mind Map: Boxes for Katje

1. I think the author is trying to portray that life for the Dutch was hard after the war. I think the characters learned that helping others in need is a good thing to do. When the packages were exchanged I under stood the main idea of the story. I think the authors message is you should be generous and grateful for what ever grows on in your life ad appreciate what you have. The theme relates to my life because i know some people who are generous and some who are very ugrateful for somethings. I do think the theme has changed Katje because she has become grateful for the gifts that she got fromher generous american friend.

1.1. I thought this book was very nice and sad because the people in olst have not had chocolate and socks for a long time which some people really enjoy but suffer the loss of not being able to have.

2. Theme bookmark #26

3. Character bookmark #3

3.1. If I were to be any characters I would be in place of the American girl because she helps others and I always wanted to send stuff to people in need. katje reminds of my friend David who doesn't have a mom just like katje owned no socks or eaten any chocolate. If i were one of the characters in the book i would be sad because i have little to nothing and i can't do much in my small town. The characters actions tell me that Katje is a grateful child and her american friend is a generous child. Another problem that could erupt would be a new war for no apparent reason which they have to forgive one another for blaming each other.
