1. Thoroughbred: Most known for its use in racing. They are known for their agility, speed, and spirit. On average they stand about 16 hands high (64 inches). They are most often bay, chestnut, seal brown or black colored.

2. Quarter Horse: Most common breed of horses in America. Known for being to sprint short distances. Its name cam from it ability to outdistance other horse breeds in races of a quarter mile or less. It is well known for its performance in rodeos, horse shows, and working ranch horse. They can be many different colors.

4. Arabian: Originated in the Arabian Peninsula. They are most recognizable by there distinctive head shape and high tail carriage. It is also one of the oldest breeds in the world, with archaeological evidence dating back 4500 years.

5. Draft Horse: Also known as a work horse. They are known for being large and extremely muscular, and bred for hard heavy tasks such as plowing and farm labor.

6. Mustang: A free roaming horse of North America. They are descendent's of horses brought over to the Americas by the spanish. Today the Mustang population is managed and protected by the Bureau of Land Managment.
