HOLISTIC NUTRITION by Mind Map: HOLISTIC NUTRITION

1. real communities

1.1. To me, holistic nutrition connects people. It unites the child with the soil and the farmer with his neighbor. It generously gives us the energy and nutrients we need to feel happy and helpful—because when we are healthy, we can help others feel happiness. Real food wants cultures to thrive and stories to be passed on. It cares about maintaining the integrity of of the food structure that nourishes the earth, as well as economic systems. Healthy food supports local food economies which support real, vibrant communities

1.2. "Food is not just fuel. Food is about family, food is about community, food is about identity. We nourish all those things when we eat well." -Michael Pollan

1.2.1. Food of the future is food that saves our societies. When everyone in the community plays an active role in the journey from seed to plate, our mind, body, and spirit will thrive!

2. real nourishment

2.1. When our bodies are given what they need, they work in unbelievable ways. When they are not given what they need and given a lot of unnecessary substances, disease manifests. Healing is a natural process of the human body. When we are in balance, healing and wellness are inevitable. We achieve balance by treating our bodies with the most respect and love that we can--by eating SOUL food! ~seasonal~organic~unprocessed~local~ If we just give our bodies what they need, we will be blessed with long, spirited lives. It can be more difficult that we think but it's what we deserve!

2.2. “If people let the government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as the souls who live under tyranny." ― Thomas Jefferson

2.2.1. This is absolutely correct! Despite what's going on in the world today in regards to food, we must stand up for what is right for our bodies, minds, and spirits. Although it seems impossible, we have the knowledge and the strength to make history and secure holistic nutrition as the standard for our societies.

3. real spirituality

3.1. Food is medicine for the body but also the spirit. When an individual is in tune with the natural rhythm of the body, true transformation may take place. However, if one loses his or her connection to the most vital medicine of life, true spirituality may suffer. A holistic approach to nutrition is the only way that the human spirit can survive--and thrive, taking into consideration the whole person: mind, body, and SPIRIT!

3.2. "Tell me what you eat, and I will tell you who you are." -Brillat-Savarin

3.2.1. Your body is your temple. You are what you eat. This quote illustrates that concept even further. One's essence and spirit are altered by one's diet.
