1. Internal Consistency

1.1. If a single concept is being tested, it can be assumed that if they get one question right they will probably get similar questions right as well

1.2. Items need to be correlated with each other, and the test should be internally consistent.

2. Alternate Forms or Equivelence

2.1. If 2 equivalent forms tests are used, the forms can be used to obtain an estimate of the reliability of the scores

2.2. Both tests are given to a group of students, and the correlation of the two test scores are determined

2.3. Eliminates the problems of memory and practice

3. Test-Retest or Stability

3.1. Estimates reliability

3.2. Test is given twice to obtain the correlation between the first and second test scores

3.3. Problem is that there is usually some memory or experience involved taking the test the second time which means that the scores from the second test may differ due to unreliability of the test or the test taker has changed in some way.

4. Construct Validity Evidence

4.1. If the relationship to information corresponds with a theory then the test has construct validity evidence.

4.2. Many different kinds of theories can be used.

4.3. There is no accepted second measure available of what is being measured.

4.4. No available measure of future behaviors.

5. Concurrent Criterion-Related Validity Evidence

5.1. Deals with measures that can be administered at the same time as the measure to be validated

5.2. Yields a numeric value, which is simply a correlation coefficient

5.3. Correlation coefficient is called the validity coefficient when it is used to illustrate validity evidence

5.4. Measures the relationship between measures made with existing tests. The existing tests are the criterion.

6. Content Validity Evidence

6.1. Inspect test questions to see whether they correspond to what the individual decides should be covered on the test

6.2. Easiest to see when the test in is an area such as achievement

6.3. More difficult if the test is a personality or aptitude trait test.

6.4. Gives information about if the test looks valid but does not tell if the reading level is too high or if the items are poorly constructed.

6.5. Content validity evidence is more of a minimum requirement for a useful test than it is a garuntee of being a good test.
