1.1. One social problem that has resulted in an imbalance within the social system in Calumet Township or Calumet New Tech is teen pregnancy. There are things that we can do to change the way this problem. Some ways are by having early parenting classes, sex-ed classes, or even having your parents come in and the counselor can talk to them and their parents about it. How the plan of having classes to help pregnant teens is that a lot of them don't tell anybody like their parents, their counselor, or even their friends, but with a lot of teens getting pregnant they won't have a life they wanted and they would have to struggle through high school while managing to take care of a baby and probably a part-time job. Now with having classes for pregnant teens it can help learn how to manage tings before they baby comes. Like an example would be with early parenting classes teens could learn how to feed, burp, change, and care for a baby then having to wait 1-9 months and the next day, the girl is rushed to the hospital because the baby is coming. So with that type of class it could help teens who are single and pregnant, or teens who are a couple and pregnant. With sex-ed classes learn how to be protective about having sex at a young age, like at the age from thirteen to sixteen. Now, a lot of teens who have seen or talk to about sex from either their parents or from somebody coming into their school and talking to them about safe sex. With more teens getting pregnant like say for every hundred girls, twenty of are pregnant, so probably having them take both sex-ed and early parenting classes. They could have extra help with schoolwork and having to take care of a child of their own. Now, with counselors a lot of students don't talk to them unless something major is bothering them. Most pregnant teens talk to counselor first before telling their parents. Usually the counselor would arrange a meeting for the pregnant teen and their parents to have a conversation about it and see if they can find a solution to help them. Most counselors have parents and students set up a schedule for when they have to work or take care of the child. Like an example would be : Monday, mom and dad are watching the baby from six in the morning to three in the afternoon and leave at four to go to work. So the teen is still handling schoolwork, and when they get home the teens will take care of the baby. So with the problem in Calumet Township stated there are way/ideas to decrease teen pregnancy in their community. The people can decrease pregnancy in their community. They just have to talk to their children about it how life had changed trying to manage a baby, a job, and schoolwork all the time.
