1.3. Cognitive Load

1.3.1. Working memory has limited capacity and learning requires maximum use of this.

1.3.2. 7 + or - 2 small items of information like phone number digits for short period of time.

1.3.3. Long term memory- must create connections between existing information and data held in working memory to create schema.

1.3.4. Long term memory is vast and complex data.

1.3.5. For instruction repetition, information chunking and information landscapes (flow) are vital.

1.4.1. Memory focussed on associations.

1.4.2. Observable behaviour.

1.4.3. Direct instruction.

1.4.4. Teacher models what is expected through explanation and demonstration.

1.4.6. Environment determines behaviour.
