Tips for Communicating in the Online Classroom

1. Spell Check/Grammar Check

1.1. instructors and classmates will be reading everything you write!

2. Compensate for lack of nonverbals!

2.1. Use emoticons and acronyms. This is the time to LOL!

3. Work to avoid miscommunications

3.1. Be clear and understand you might have to re-clarify from time to time.

4. Avoid ALL CAPITALS

4.1. All CAPS is code for yelling in this enviroment.

5. Limit your 'reply all' useage

5.1. If a message is intended for an individual, send it to him/her directly.
