1. No Time for Childhood

1.1. From an early age children are thrown into society for better or for worse.

1.1.1. In the beginning of this chapter, a boy from the upper class is taught how to demand a proper shoe polishing from a boy of the same age but of the lower class

1.2. Parents are usually stuck in jobs that are far away and have long hours so they leave their children with family members, neighbors, or on the streets

1.3. The streets provide children and teens with quick and easy jobs that often times pay better than the menial jobs of their parents.

1.3.1. The streets are often the cause for most violence and homicide among young adults.

1.3.1.1. As young teens start to get involved in gangs as they provide a better option than unemployment, they often times sign their life away and are more likely to get killed than teens not in gangs

1.3.1.2. The violence caused by the lower class gangs revolting against the upper classes has caused more tension and division better the upper classes and the lower classes

1.3.1.2.1. Upper classes have built higher walls of defense around their cities to help keep out gangs and violence while isolating and ostracizing the lower class even more

2. Gangs, Violence, and Revenge

2.1. Gangs are a big part of the lower class and often times run the town.

2.2. The gangs, although seemingly above the poverty level live in the same kind of house as do the other lower class members.

2.3. The power they wield however is very strong, yet it damages the infrastructure of the lower class, often times making them more ostracized by the upper classes.

2.4. The gangs are often times involved with drugs causing the streets of the lower the class to be much more dangerous than those of the upper class.

2.4.1. Drug related violence and homicide is prevalent among the lower class societies and cause them to be much more dangerous. Because of this the upper class fears the lower class as they think the violence will drift up to them.

2.4.2. Many times the police are in on the violence and when off duty work as hitmen for local gangs.

2.4.3. As these gangs wreak havoc and violence among the people, revenge ensues, resulting in even more violence.

2.4.3.1. Revenge is a large part of these lower societies as it allows the people a way of doing the jobs the police cant.

2.4.3.1.1. Many times the police are corrupt and justice is not served, thus resulting in the people taking matters into their own hands.

2.4.3.1.2. the people of this society have an eye for an eye mentality. If a family member is killed, they kill a family member of the killer. If a spouse is unfaithful, they are beaten without remorse or disdain from the public.
