Chapter 7- What's so funny about rape?

1. This chapter starts out with a story of a women (Marilia) who attempted to kill her husband

1.1. This is just another story of a women fighting back against an abuser.

2. Both Gloria's daughters we're raped in a robbery.

2.1. Anita and Claudia

2.1.1. Claudia was thought to be a virgin at the time and Anita not. The joke was that Claudia really was not a vigin so in fear of her mother she had screed just as loud as her sister.

2.1.1.1. The family and friends in this culture found this funny. Very different from what I'm used to

2.1.1.1.1. Anita was acutally pregnant by her boyfriend at the time

3. Lower class women do not put so much imortance on virginty

3.1. Those that go to court because of rape will usually lie about their beliefs on virginity

4. Courts do not prosecute men who beat their wives

4.1. The women guilty of infidelity have even less sympathy
