1. Behaviourism

1.1. A theory initially developed by Ivan Petrovich Pavlov, which utilizes stimuli in order to obtain a conditioned response. (Essentially an individual learns based off the responses given by the educator. Example: "You finished your math assignment. You can go play Oregon Trail (Social Studies game),)

1.2. Punishments and rewards are obvious (students know the objectives, and the consequences of not meeting them).

1.3. Teachers have an easier time controlling their classroom (due to both known advantages/punishments, as well as motivation (reward).

1.4. There is always motivation for the learner to keep going.

2. Media Ecology

2.1. Refers to several different avenues of communication through media.

2.2. This discusses the importance technology has on our lives (very influential).

2.3. Explains the impact human impact (emotion, expression) has on media and technology as a whole.

3. SCOT

3.1. Also known as Social Construction of Technology, this is a theory developed by the idea that humans shape and influence technology.

3.2. Concludes that people can determine whether or not a technology will be successful. (An example of this is people switching from MySpace to Facebook, after several people decided that MySpace wasn't relevant anymore).

3.3. Human action determines the progression of technology.

3.4. An Example is the iPod vs the MP3. People preferred the idea of iTunes and being able to purchase games and songs and putting them all into one place, where as MP3 was not viewed as multi-functional.

4. Connectivism

4.1. Students learn through newer channels of technology (networking).

4.2. Students can access other students/professionals through their networks for ideas/help on class concepts.

4.3. This theory is founded upon the idea that information is all over the world and can be accessed through the use of networking and technology.

4.4. Teachers have a wider range of assignments they can do. Learning is also more active based on the students' involvement as well.

5. Constructivism

5.1. Students learn new class concepts based off of the prior real life knowledge that they already possess.

5.2. Concepts are more easily grasped because students can connect said concepts to the prior knowledge/experiences that they had prior to the teaching of this new concept..

5.3. Every student brings something new/different to the new concepts.

5.4. Students teach each other through their own experiences (more than just a plain lecture; active involvement).

6. TPACK

6.1. Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge

6.2. 3 Aspects formed into a concept for teachers consider.

6.3. Each aspect represents an important form of knowledge that teachers need to have in order to be successful in their teaching strategies.

7. Philosophy of Teachnology

7.1. This refers to the way in which teachers incorporate technology around the ways that they teach (essentially their philosophy).

7.2. This addresses the teacher's values in using technology in class, and their views on using technology as a whole.

7.3. An example of a Philosophy of Teachnology would be a class blog or activity that can be found online.
