1. Distillation

1.1. The substance goes through the process of evaporation then condensation

1.2. Obtains the solvent from the mixture of solid that is dissolved in a solvent

1.3. Can be used to Separate two liquids if the difference of their boiling points is more than 20° C

2. Separating funnel

2.1. used to immiscible liquids (oil and water etc)

2.2. separates liquids of different density

2.3. liquid with the higher density forms the bottom layer, liquid with the lower density forms the top layer

3. Magnet

3.1. Homogenous mixture

3.2. Separates magnetic and non magnetic substances

5.1. Separating Heterogenous mixtures

5.2. Separate a mixture of solids if one is soluble in a solvent and one is not

5.3. Separate a mixture of solid that is suspended in the liquid
