Planning for Student Engagement by Mind Map: Planning for Student Engagement

1. Integrating the Arts

1.1. Arts can be integrated into most content areas very easily. It can be as easy as simply assigning an english assignment and having students illustrate their story.

2. Presentation and Performance

2.1. Some schools have project base learning programs were students do the majority of their work through projects like this. They create presentations and show the class what they have learned and these presentations are sometimes even presented to the community.

3. Integrating Technology

3.1. We see many examples of technology being integrated into lessons the more and more advanced we get. It is becoming more common for students to all have computers or iPads with them in the classroom.

4. Authentic Learning

4.1. Involving them in planting a garden. Its fun, engaging and students learn about food, where it comes from, how it grows. And then they begin to think about how this happens all around them.

5. Inquiry

5.1. In science especially we can see this with experiments. We guide students in one direction and let them question and investigate to find answers to those questions.

6. Collaboration

6.1. Taking field trips to local places so that students can learn about where they live. This is a good example because it is the school and community working together to help students have a better understanding of where they live.
