2.1. The acronym describes 4 levels of enhancement technology brings to a particular task, divided into two subdivisions.

2.1.1. Enhancement

2.1.1.1. Substitution

2.1.1.1.1. There is no functional change to the task when done with technology.

2.1.1.2. Augmentation

2.1.1.2.1. A task is not changed, but is in some way easier to do, or has slight benefits due to the technology

2.1.2. Transformation

2.1.2.1. Modification

2.1.2.1.1. A task is transformed by the use of technology. It has new dimensions previously impossible, and is better able to achieve it's goals.

2.1.2.2. Redefinition

2.1.2.2.1. A new task has been created through novel use of technology. Not just redefining an old task, this is embracing the opportunities of technology fully to create new opportunities for student learning!

2.2. Teachers must understand that technology is more helpful for some tasks than others, so they understand when to best use new technologies to enhance their pedagogy.

3. Philosophy of Teachnology

3.1. Teachers' assumptions, values, and feelings on how technology should be used for education.

3.1.1. Can be changed with new information, experiences, and tools

3.1.2. Includes how to use technology in the classroom and in professional development

3.1.3. Is a lifelong learning process, as technology changes

3.1.3.1. Difficult and rewarding!
