2.1. Redefinition

2.1.1. Technology allows you to create tasks that were not possible before.

2.1.1.1. For example entire classrooms can conference with classrooms from different parts of the country and discuss current events related to curriculum topics. During my IPT my classroom was able to communication through video with different grade 5 classrooms across the country as well as rangers in Jasper National Park. The students were able to share ideas about the explorers that charted Canada, which was what they were covering in Social Studies at the time.

2.2. Modification

2.2.1. Technology allows for significant task redesign.

2.2.1.1. For example in my IPT my grade 5 students were asked to make a weather report based on a natural disaster that occurred somewhere in Canada within the past 50 years. Within their groups they used Google doc to collaborate with each other and complete the assignment. They were able to add pictures and share what they had with me so I could provide them with feedback even if I was not in the classroom.

2.3. Augmentation

2.3.1. Technology acts as a direct substitution but has functional improvement.

2.3.1.1. For example using Google doc to create a word document and then being able to share it with who ever you want.

2.4. Substitution

2.4.1. Technology acts a direct tool substitution with no functional change.

2.4.1.1. For example students can now use Windows Office to write a paper as opposed to writing it on a piece of paper with a pencil.
