1.1.1.1. Seung-Hui Cho, shot and killed 32 students and faculty members, and wounded another 17 students and faculty members in two separate attacks on the same day at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Cho committed suicide.

1.1.2. Kip Kinkel

1.1.2.1. After killing his parents at home, Kip Kinkel, drove to Thurston High School where he shot and killed two students and wounded 25 others. He was sentenced to 111 years of prison.

1.1.3. Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold

1.1.3.1. : Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, killed 12 students and one teacher, and wounded 21 others before committing suicide at Columbine High School.

1.1.4. Jeffrey Weise

1.1.4.1. Jeffrey Weise, a 16-year-old student, opened fire at the Red Lake Indian Reservation, first killing his grandfather and grandfather's companion. He drove his grandfather's police vehicle to his high school, Red Lake Senior High School. Weise was armed with his grandfather's police weapons. He shot and killed five students, one teacher, and then committed suicide. Five other people were wounded in the shooting.

1.1.5.1. Steven Kazmierczak, 27, shot multiple people in a classroom of Northern Illinois University with a shotgun, killing five and injuring 21. He then committed suicide.

1.1.6. Adam Lanza

1.1.6.1. Adam Lanza, aged 20, killed 26 people and himself at the Sandy Hook Elementary School. He first killed his mother at their shared home before taking her guns and driving to the school.] During the attack, 20 first-grade children aged six and seven were killed, along with six adults, including four teachers, the principal, and the school psychologist. Two others were injured. All of the victims were shot between 3 and 11 times.

2. Europe

2.1. Thomas Hamilton

2.1.1. 43-year-old Thomas Hamilton opened fire in a gymnasium, killing sixteen children and one adult and injuring fifteen others before committing suicide. It remains the deadliest attack on children in Scottish history.

2.2. Robert Steinhäuser

2.2.1. 19-year-old Robert Steinhäuser began shooting through his former schoo in Erfurt Germany, targeting teachers and faculty members. Twelve teachers and one administrator were killed, along with two students and a police officer; only one other person was injured. The shooter then committed suicide.

2.3. Pekka-Eric Auvinen

2.3.1. 18-year-old Pekka-Eric Auvinen opened fire in the school's main hallway in Tuusula, Finland, killing six students, school principal Helena Kalmi, and the school nurse before shooting and wounding himself in a suicide attempt; he later died at a hospital. One other person suffered gunshot wounds, and eleven people were injured by shattering glass while escaping from the school building. The day before the incident, Auvinen posted a video on YouTube predicting the massacre at the school.

2.4. Matti Juhani Saari

2.4.1. 22-year-old student Matti Juhani Saari entered a school in Kauhajoki, Finland via the basement and opened fire in a classroom he attended before setting it on fire with homemade Molotov cocktails and then fleeing the scene. Nine students and one staff member died in the incident. A woman was shot in the head and critically wounded, but survived after having two operations, while ten other students sustained minor injuries such as sprains and cuts from broken glass. Authorities eventually found Saari, who had shot himself but was still alive; he died later a short time later.

2.5. Tim Kretschmer

2.5.1. 17-year-old Tim Kretschmer, a former student of the school Winnenden, Germany, opened fire in two classrooms and a chemistry laboratory, killing nine and injuring seven others. He then successfully escaped the school, killing two female teachers in the process. Afterwards, he shot and killed the caretaker of a psychiatric facility and then carjacked a motorist, who drove him into another town before escaping unharmed. The shooter opened fire in a car showroom after unsuccessfully trying to steal a car, killing two and injuring two others. He then committed suicide after a brief shootout with police.

3.1. Terrorist attack

3.1.1. The Ma'alot massacre was a terrorist attack at the Netiv Meir elementary school in the town of Ma'alot. It included a two-day hostage-taking of 115 people which ended in the deaths of over 25 hostages.

3.2. Alaa Abu Dhein

3.2.1. Alaa Abu Dhein, an Israeli Arabic yeshiva bus driver, entered the Mercaz HaRav yeshiva with guns blazing, killing eight and wounding seven, before being shot.

3.3. Farda Gadirov

3.3.1. 29-year-old Farda Gadirov opened fire with a Makarov PM semi-automatic pistol inside the school building of Azerbaijan State Oil Academy, killing 12 people, and wounding 13 others. He committed suicide by shooting himself in the head.

4. Africa

4.1. Terrorist attack

4.1.1. Before dawn on 6 July, gunmen attacked a government-run boarding school of 1,200 students in Mamudo village, Yobe State, Nigeria, killing at least 42 people. A local eyewitness described the situation: "It was a gory sight ... There were 42 bodies, most of them were students. Some of them had parts of their bodies blown off and badly burnt while others had gunshot wounds." Most of the dead were students, with a few staff members and a teacher also killed.
