4. Activities

4.1. HOMEWORK:

4.1.1. Go home and search for a video or documentary video clip or website or PSA or campaign or PowerPoint Presentation or essay or project or song or advertisement – any of a multitude of available media (videos, songs, clips, etc. under 5 minutes long) that has to do with bullying, and the role of the bystander in particular: email me the link to the media along with a 4-5 sentence paragraph offering your reflections on why your choice of media speaks to you personally about the topic of bullying and bystanders.

4.2. "Reading Sandwich" (adapted)

4.2.1. Bully, Victim, Bystander

4.2.2. Finish the introduction: “The first time Eric Hayes ever saw him, David Hallenback was running…”

4.2.3. Brainstorm words, phrases, definitions, characteristics, ideas, and predictions pertaining to your role.

4.2.4. Write 3-5 sentences that finish the opening sentence and/or the introductory paragraph to the book, "Bystander"

4.3. Chapter 4: "Fresh"

4.3.1. Each student has a Reading Circle role (eg. Illuminator, Connnector, Summarizer, Word Watcher, Predictions) and reads chapter 4 for homework with that in mind.

4.4. Video/PSA

4.4.1. Students search and select a 2-3 minute video clip related to bullying/bystander

4.4.2. One paragraph reflection on how it relates to a) "Bystander and b) their own lives and personal experience(s)
