3. 5th Grade

3.1. I Can Be an Entrepreneur - follow all directions and complete all questions

3.2. Pre-Reading to Develop the business plan for a K/3rd projected business

3.3. Executive Summary of Business - small groups will each be assigned to one of the following to pre-read. These groups will then split and have a jigsaw type discussions to teach the rest of the class about what they have learned and what questions they might ask the 3rd grade class when they are collecting information to put together a business plan.

3.3.1. BUSINESS. Provide a business description and clearly define what your business will be doing. (This is really explaining what your business is attempting to do).

3.3.2. MANAGEMENT TEAM. List the founders and executive team, and provide their backgrounds and relevant experience. Also provide your immediate and long-term staffing needs. (Have some fun with this. What experience (cleaning room, etc.) do you have and what experience do people helping you have).

3.3.3. PRODUCT. Explain your product, including customer needs and applications. (What is your product, do customers need or want your product, what kind of customers will use your product, and how will your customers use and enjoy your product).

3.3.4. VALUE PROPOSITION. Explain how your business is different from others. What is so great about what you are doing. If people don't see value in it, if it doesn't help them they will not buy your product.

3.3.5. MARKET OPPORTUNITY. Describe the market opportunity, including the size, history, characteristics, and dynamics of the market, showing how you fit in the market. (How much do you think you can sell, to who and where).

3.3.6. STRATEGY/BUSINESS MODEL. Describe your marketing strategy and the proposed business model, including a discussion on sales and distribution channels. Provide details on what market validation (research) you have conducted, and your current status with any customers. (How are you going to run your business, tell people about your product and business and why you have made these decisions).

3.3.7. FINANCING. State the amount of the investment you are looking to raise and your funding history. List your future milestones and the amount of capital required to reach these milestones. (How much money do you need, when will you need it and how well will your business do with the money you are given).

3.4. Whole Class discussions will create an application (Google Form) for a new business

3.5. Applications will be sent to 3rd grade

3.5.1. Returned applications will be sorted according to interests (likes).

3.5.2. 5th grade will choose a business partner(s) to help create their business plan

3.6. Using application information, create a business plan to include:

3.6.1. budget for start up (Spreadsheet)

3.6.1.1. how much do you need to buy supplies/equipment

3.6.1.2. how much will monthly costs be

3.6.1.3. how much should be charged for goods/services

3.6.1.4. projection for profit margins

3.6.2. marketing proposal

3.6.2.1. sample of marketing ideas

3.6.2.2. reason this ad campaign would draw in the target customer
