1. Pollution
1.1. Air (caused by harmful emissions and CO2, methane, called greenhouse gases
1.1.1. 1/ Vehicles + factories + burning fossil fuels release these smokes
1.1.1.1. Bad Effects: - global warming:…….. - human health problems: respiratory issues (asthma:hen), long-term exposure can cause lung cancer.
1.1.2. 2/ Deforestation reduces the planet’s ability to absorb CO2 and this gas returns to the atmosphere . 3/ The ocean warming also causes CO2 to return to the atmosphere
1.2. Water
1.2.1. Comes from : Agricultural, industrial waste and untreated sewage/‘su:idz/ , they are dumped into rivers and oceans.
1.2.1.1. Pollute drinking water, diseases: cholera.
1.2.1.1.1. Cause of pollution
1.3. Soil
1.3.1. Pesticides+fertilizers+ industrial chemicals + waste are dumped into the soil.
1.3.1.1. 1/ harming our food chain, food crops. Long-term exposure with toxic Chemicals causes cancer diseases. 2/ pollute water( especially water used for our daily activities). 3/ bad impact to the ecosystem
1.3.1.1.1. Bad effects
1.4. Waste/ trash/ rubbish (Plastic)
1.4.1. 1/ Population growth/ littering/improper waste management. 2/ agricultural and industrial waste
1.4.1.1. 1/ Pollute Air/ occeans/ soil/microplastic enter food chain. 2/ destroy ecosystem
1.4.1.1.1. New topic: talk about the waste management in your city?
2. Climate change
2.1. Global warming
2.1.1. * Greenhouse gas (CO2, methane): human activities release too much from : transportation, deforestation, industrialization & urbanization, waste dumping. * They retain heat in atmosphere. When they are produced too much=> planet is warmer.
2.1.1.1. 1/ When the planet warms, it causes ice caps at two poles to melt and leading to a sea level increase=>Floods at coastal regions around the world. 2/ Droughts and wildfires . 3/ Spread of Diseases : malaria. 4/ Destroy the ecosystem and biodiversity . =>Loss of habitats of some species
2.2. Extreme weather and natural disasters
2.2.1. We have suffered More Storms, hurricane, droughts, landslides: stronger and more frequent .
2.2.1.1. => negatively impacts the economies of countries and lives of many people . . Many people have been killed and gone missing, We face many high recovery costs after disasters.
3. Loss of biodiversity
3.1. 1/ Deforestation. 2/ Overharvesting, overfishing and overhunting are main reasons for biodiversity imbalance. 3/ Rising temperature, sea level => . loss of habitats of some animals and plants. Disappearances of some…., especially endangered species.
3.1.1. Loss natural habitats , disappearances and extinct some different species , especially endangered species
3.1.1.1. SOLUTIONS
3.1.1.1.1. INDIVIDUALS : 3R: 1/ reduce waste/ my carbon footprint everyday. 2/ Reuse daily items like plastic bags, containers…. 3/ recycle materials : paper products, clothing, plastic items….
3.1.1.1.2. GOVERNMENT. 1. Invest in Renewable Energy: support projects of solar, wind, or hydroelectric energy
4. Overconsumption of resources
4.1. Population growth. =>demand for food, water, energy increases significantly
4.1.1. Inefficient use of resources.: 1/ relying too much on fossil fuels. 2/ resources ( oil, coal) are extracted and used at un unsustainable rate. They might run out sooner than we expect. 3/forests are cleared for agriculture, logging, urbanization. 4/ fish stocks are harvested faster than they can reproduced.
