1. Junior Colleges are very similar to community colleges only they tend to be a private school.

2. Community Colleges are public and offer a 2 year course. They grant associates degrees in liberal arts programs and sometimes certificates in certain related subjects. Typical Community Colleges are open admissions and are available to those who are 18 and older. In order to be admitted one must have a high school G.E.D or a Diploma. Some people start at 2 year colleges because the are cheaper than 4 year colleges.

3. Career School are designed to prepare students for certain careers. Anything ranging from welding to cosmetology or medical imaging. Technical Schools teach the science behind the occupation. Trade schools differ because the teach hands on skills need to do the job.

4. Four Year Colleges offer B.A degrees and B.S degrees, certain colleges may also offer you Associate of Arts. Colleges tend to have smaller class sizes than a University. It is a benefit because you get more personal attention and are able to know the faculty better.

5. Universities grant bachelors and masters degrees. Some might include a liberal arts college. Universities tend to be bigger than regular colleges. They offer 2 year and 4 year degrees. Some offer other degrees for advanced studies over 4 years. Universities offer a huge course selection and have extensive resources. Class sizes vary depending on the location of the University. Classes are usually taught be Graduate students rather than professors
