1. Grading students

1.1. Being able to see which students are exceeding expectations and which may be struggling

1.2. Allowing us as teachers to understand what students need, whether it be harder work, or possibly for us to spend more time working on the subject.

2. A way of showing students and parents their progress

2.1. Students often enjoy finding out test results and enjoy sharing these results with their parents and loved ones. It is a way for students who are doing exceptionally well to show their hard work.

2.2. Often parents ask for evidence of how their children are getting on and so showing assessments is the most easy and practical way of doing so.

3. Helpfull for teachers

3.1. Even though as teachers we are often able to see how our students are getting on it outlines the main areas that they may be struggling in

3.2. It highlights to us if students need to work on spelling or grammer or sentence structure.

4. A possitive thing

4.1. It is important that as teachers we try and portray assessments as something positive. Often assessments are thought of in a bad light and so it is important for us to encourage students and explain the positive aspects to it. Rewarding students when they do well is something that always seems to have positive results.

7. Allows students to see their progress

7.1. Often students can feel as though they are stuck in a rut and struggling with learning however if you have a record to assessments we as teachers are able to show them the ways in which they have improved. This is often a great encouragement to students and will push them to carry on the hard work.

8. Varied possibilities

8.1. Assessments aren't simply tests, there are many ways to assess students progress, whether it be observations in class, tests, reports from home, the way in which they behave and the way they react to the work

8.2. There are many different things that students can be assessed on. Whether it be their class work, or their behaviour, their friednships and the way they react with other students or even just their attitude toward studying, these are all important areas in which students should be observed in and assessed in.
