1. Through the eyes of Scout, her view on Jem is always changing, but she always has respect for him. She doesn’t understand that Jem is growing up and maturing, and sometimes finds it hard to understand why he won’t include her.

2.1.1. Jem strong beliefs is always having bravery and courage, but his idea of bravery changes over the novel. At the start Jem believes that bravery is being able to touch the side of Boo Radley’s house, but at the end of the novel he believes bravery is protecting Scout. Jem’s idea of bravery changes because of Jem’s experience and how he is maturing.

2.2.1. He idolizes Atticus and always values his thoughts and opinions. Influenced by Atticus, Jem believes in doing the right thing even when others might not agree. When Dill hides in Scouts bedroom after running away from home, he goes and tells Atticus in order to do the right thing, which through Scout’s eyes ‘he rose and broke the remaining code of our childhood.’
