Quadratics

1. Most of the time you wont be tested on the easy quadratics but the harder ones likes the ones with linear graphs inside eg x2-16=2x-5 so what do we do? 1) Plot y=2x-5 so if x was replaced by 0 the y would be -5 and so on...after that just plot the other equation on the left which is x2-16.The all you do is plot them and find the intersect value just like the previous one.

2. If there was a question to something like Plot x2+3x=7.The first thing you must do is to plot y=x2+3x so we would replace the value of from the range given like -4 - 2 so the first plot would be 4 and the last plot would be 10.After plotting the graph you must plot the y which is 7 so its a horizontal line intersecting the quadratic. You must then find the intersect at the two points,read it then put it in a equation eg (4.6)2 +3x=7

3. Try and draw the quadratic graph free hand!

4. Don't panic when you see a question like this pops out just use the steps explained in this mind map!
