Poetry and Art (Within Between Shades of Gray Unit)

1. Students choose 1 picture from the presentations (can be their own or a classmate's) that really stuck with them
1.1. Students will then write a poem that fits the style of the times and reflects the picture
2. Students choose 1 poem from the presentations (can be their own or a classmate's) that really stuck with them
2.1. Students will then create a piece of art (can be a drawing, sculpture, etc.) they feel depicts the poem
3. Students present their poems and artwork in small groups
4. Students create presentations of the artwork and poetry they found- share with classmates
5. Students research art made during time period (WWII)
6. Students research poetry written during this time period (WWII)
7. As a class, we read some poetry together and discuss style, poetry types, imagery, etc.
