1. Step 1: identify The Problem. What are the behaviors and possible causes for disciplinary action?

2. Step 2: Once behaviors are diagnosed, determine an order of priority for which behaviors need to be dealt with.

3. Step 3: Determine all possible disciplinary actions that have already been taken. It is important to consider what has already been done.

4. Step 4: Determine any long term complications that could be causing the negative behaviors.

5. Step 5: Determine the triggers and reactions for each of the behaviors. What comes before and after every action?

6. Step 6: Determine what is the goal of the negative behavior. Is it for attention?

7. Step 7: Determine the outcome desired. Much like in an IEP make sure to include quantifiable results for recording purposes.

8. Step 8: Create a plan that includes all of these elements: Solutions, Implementation Procedures for the Solution, Who will Implement the Solution and any additional support or information needed.

9. Step 9: Implement the plan keeping in contact with the parents/guardians and record all instances of the behavior. The Behavior plan must be followed.
