3.1. Paper of various sizes; A3 and A4

3.2. Writing and drawing implements; pencils, pens, colour textas, black textas, crayons, etc.

4. Steps

4.1. This activity will really challenge students to think about what they have learnt and how they can apply it to a potential real life situation. Explain to students that they will be required to design their very own restaurant kitchen! Firstly they must select three recipes, as this will help to determine what sort of facilities their kitchen will need and the types of storage the food will require. Students will then research how they might like to design their kitchen. This will then be followed by a series of drawings and explanations. Students may choose to do one large drawing of their kitchen then a series of smaller drawings with explanations of how parts of their kitchn uses hygienic food preparation practices.

5. Cross-Curriculuar links

5.1. This program of work not only encompasses the Technologies Curriculum, it also teaches skills that can be applicable in everyday life. The General Capability of Literacy is also integrated into the program, as students are required to practice their speaking and listneing skills, both vital for everyday communication and education. Critical and Creative thinking is also fostered through this program as the final task is quite open-ended and makes students think creatively and outside the box.
