Ethics and Professional Responsibility by Mind Map: Ethics and Professional Responsibility

1. 1. Punctuality and Regularity: To become a professional in the field of physical education requires from the aspirants to be punctual and regular in his routine. A P.E. teacher should be early enough to allow oneself the time for preparation. Being late means non-committed students and setting a bad example

2. 2. Creating a Pleasant Environment: Try to always smile and be a person that enjoys coming to school everyday. I will create an exciting and fun environment that students will want to come to on a daily basis.

3. 3. Following Professional Dress Code: Dress for the job remembering that appearances do count in the example one sets for children. For teaching physical education it is appropriate to wear warm-up shorts or Dockers.

4. 4 Responsibility: Hold students responsible for their actions. Follow your rules and guidelines that you set at the beginning of the year. Hold yourself responsible also admit when you are wrong or be willing to accept change.

5. 5. Having a Good Character: Teaching is unavoidably tied to values and students learn about values from their teachers. We as teachers should show character in everything we do no matter if it is a sport we are coaching or a simple game during P.E. class we are leading. We are setting examples for all our students each time we walk into a classroom or the gym.

6. 6. Providing a sense of Individuality to the Students: As teachers we do not pick favorites and the students should not feel that way either. Get to know students as individuals and not just another child in another class. Get to know their home lives their extra-curricular activities so we can relate to our students easier.

7. 7. Developing Professional Relationships with Children: Remember to be a teacher and not a peer of the children. Yet, one should be friendly and accepting. One should get to know children as individuals and there would enhance one's classroom management interactions. Always make sure the students know that we are the teacher first and foremost.

8. 8. Stay away from the "Gossip" While it is natural that others will be curious about one's experiences in field, one should be sure to be professional as one shares those experiences. Try not to use names of teachers or to gossip about what goes on in the school on teachers. As teachers we are usually exposed to information about children we are working with. In order to protect those students, the school or the relationships we have with our fellow teachers keep confidential information confidential.
