3. Vint Cerf and Tim Berners-Lee are credited with creating the internet
4. There is a lot of competition between cable, satellite, and phone companies to provide the best internet
5. To view certain things you sometimes need to download a plugin software
5.1. Adobe, Windows Media Player, or Quicktime Player
6. Standardization has played a huge role in the development of the internet
7. A subscription to an ISP typically costs about $20 a month for slow dial up access
7.1. Now our internet today is much more advanced and faster
8. How do you search the internet?
8.1. First, you go to a web portal like google or yahoo
8.1.1. Next, you type in a specific key word or phrase
8.1.1.1. Then, click on the specific link you want
8.1.1.1.1. It is very quick
9. The internet originated during the late 1960's
9.1. Internet Explorer was the first browser, then came Mozilla and Firefox
10. ISP's allow homes to connect to the internet
10.1. Every webpage has a specific URL
10.1.1. URL: Uniform Resource Locator
11. There are endless amount of websites online
11.1. You have to be specific when searching for a topic
11.1.1. By being specific you narrow your search down 1000's
