2.1.3. They believed in many gods, and believed the controlled everything.

2.2. Shang/Zhou

2.2.1. Shang believed in ancestor worshiip.

2.2.2. Shang used oracle bones to communicate with their deceased ancestors.

5.1.2. The Yangzi and Yellow Rivers created the fertile valleys.

5.1.3. Both rivers flow east from the plateau of Tibet to the Yellow Sea.

5.1.4. China's isolation from the hills and mountains allowed the Shang/Zhou to grow and develop without any disturbances.

6. Social Structure and Family Life

6.1. Sumer

6.1.1. A social hierarchy was formed.

6.1.2. Kings and priests were at the top, large landowners and wealthy merchants were next.

6.1.3. The majority of people were next, and at the bottom were slaves.

6.1.4. In homes, men did the work and women stayed home with the kids.

6.2. Shang/Zou

6.2.1. Both Shang and Zhou had a social hiearchy.

6.2.2. The men worked tending the farm fields and the women helped around the house.

7.1. Sumer

7.1.1. The Sumerians used cuneiform writing and learned math.

7.1.2. Created many advances in architecture including columns.

7.1.3. Created large statues with wide eyes and small ivory objects.

7.1.4. Most famous arts are the cylinder seals. Used to sign and show ownership.

7.2. Shang/Zhou

7.2.1. The Shang used symbols written with oracle bones to share ideas and teach each other.

7.2.2. Shang artisans used bronze to create vessels and objects that had a religous purpose.

7.2.3. The Zhou used iron over bronze for all crafting.

8. Science and Technology

8.1. Sumeria

8.1.1. The Sumerians created a math system with 60.

8.1.2. The Sumerians learned geometry.

8.1.3. They created the wheel, plow, vehicles, used bronze for weapons.

8.1.4. They also did many medical things, including surgery.

8.2. Shang/Zhou

8.2.1. Shang created a writing system based on oracle bones.

8.2.2. Shang astronomers created a precise calendar based on the cycles of the moon.

8.2.3. The Zhou figured out how to use iron. they created iron weapons and tools.

9.1.2. Lacked wood and metals, so they traded for those.

9.1.3. Traded woven textiles with people all across Southwest Asia.

9.2.1. The Shang used Bronze for trade.

9.2.2. The Zhou used iron for trade.

9.2.3. Shang traded crop surplus when they had it.

9.2.4. The Zhou also traded crops when they had surplus.
