Heartland is a realistic portrayal of a Singaporean boy’s search for identity. Do you agree? by Mind Map: Heartland is a realistic portrayal of a Singaporean boy’s search for identity. Do you agree?

1. Yes, it is realistic

1.1. It show an average boy(Wing) living in the heartlands. It also shows how he goes through National Service(NS) and his problems faced when having relationships. Whatever he faces is what all guys in Singapore will have to go through. eg. it shows the example of what friends are, helping friends when they are in need. Thus it is realistic to me. -Kevin

2. No, it is not realistic

2.1. It is not realistic as it is based on how ppl lived in the 1990s, and it is already 2010 now. Thus, it does not potray the current life of singaporean boys. The boys living in the 1990s and 2010 differ in their mindset, boys nowadays have dreams of their own and are not easily contented with an ordinary life. As it is somewhat different from how life is now, I conclude that it is not realistic. -Ashleigh
