2. Reputable: The narrator's family was a well-known family, especially in business. His father was "respected by all who knew him for his integrity and indefatigable attention to public business" (Shelly 24).

3. Curious: Both the narrator and his sister were curious with the world around them. His sister pondered the appearance of things while he examined their causes (Shelley 31). Th narrator viewed the world as "a secret which I desired to divine" (Shelley 31).
