1.1. Thesis Statement

1.1.1. Are students getting the most out of their college education?

1.2. Students is being blinded by the stereotypical college agenda.

1.2.1. students lose sight of what is most important in school.

1.3. "Academic ethic" named by Rau and Durand (2000:23) and Shils (1997:120) greatly affects a students college success.

1.3.1. Found in the article named, "Assessing the Factors Associated with the Possession of an Academic Ethic in College." by author, Kyong Hee Chee. Pino, Nathan W. and Smith, William L. Source: Sociological Viewpoints. Fall2014, Vol, 30 Issue 1, p50-70.

2. Body/Conclusion

2.1. Students need to focus more on the learning aspect rather than the "GPA perspective" founded by Becker, Geer, and Hughes (1968).

2.1.1. Success in college isn't only determined by GPA. Having a high GPA does not mean you learned more than a student with a lower GPA. Personal development and lesson comprehension is priority.

2.2. Transitioning from high school to college level education is easiest with academic ethics.

2.2.1. What is know so far is how the transition to college can be smoother when students possess an academic ethic in high school (Smith and Zhang 2009a).

2.3. Students attending college are more successful when equipped with educational ethics. Those of the student body who are not fortunate enough to possess such a trait, will fall into the college agenda. Ultimately resulting in a piece of paper that offers much less than anticipated.

2.3.1. College can teach a student much more than what meets the public eye. To some, school is about showing up making grades and socializing. What is being missed is well-balanced academic ethics which enable a student to get the most learning out of each class as possible. This will help provide the knowledge students need for their next transition into the workforce.
