3. Manifest Destiny

3.1. The belief that it was the United States destiny to extend to the Pacific coast.

4. Stephen F. Austin

4.1. His Life: He was a businessman he organized the first great land colony in Texas. He was a spokesperson for Mexican government. He even spoke on the behalf of people he didn't agree or disliked. For example when he fought for slavery in Texas even when it was banned. He almost went to jail for helping Texas after Texas got its independence he ran for president but lost. He got the job of secretary of state. He died soon after but they honour him by naming their capital. His life span is 1793-183

5. Texas Independence

5.1. Worried that Americans having too much influence on Texans, Anastasio Bustamante bans any more Americans from moving into Texas.

5.2. Mexico controlled the territory of Texas until 1836 when Texas won its independence, becoming an independent Republic. In 1845 it joined the United States as the 28th state. The state's annexation caused the Mexican–American War in 1846.

5.3. Texans win the Battle of San Jacinto and their independence. Led by Sam Houston, the Texas army defeats the troops of Santa Anna at the Battle of Jacinto.

5.4. Santa Anna had again divided Huston forces. So Huston ordered an attack on April 21, 1836. Crying "Remember the Alamo" and "Remember Goliad", the Army showed little to none mercy during the Battle of San Jacinto. Santa Anna was captured in hiding on the same day and he ordered his army to return to Mexico, ending the Texas Revolution.

6. Califonia Gold Rush

6.1. The people finding out about gold nuggets in the Sacramento Valley in early 1848 sparked the start of The Gold Rush. As news spread of the discovery, thousands of prospective gold miners called 49s traveled by sea or over land to San Francisco and the surrounding area. A total of $2 billion worth of precious metal was Pulled from the area during the Gold Rush, which peaked in 1852.

7.1. The Oregon Trail was The 2,200-mile east-west trail served as a important transportation route for emigrants traveling from Missouri to Oregon during mid-1800s. They came because of great soil and though of gold. They were also motivated by fear of diseases like yellow fever and malaria that.
