In what ways does you media prouct use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? Does it fit the conventions of your genre? How? How do you challenge these? by Mind Map: In what ways does you media prouct use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? Does it fit the conventions of your genre? How? How do you challenge these?

1. When it came to editing our film, we wanted to show time passing and how the character develops in confidence over the the remainder of the film. We used jump cuts to show time progression and the stablitlity of the character. - We have also included montages of the different stages of one activity Carl was doing. This can be seen when he is in the kitchen preparing his breakfast. - We wanted to illustrate everyday situations that people can find themselves in but we wanted to show the comical side of this ending badly and that life doesnt always turn out the way you hope, for example a climax is built up and then an anti-climax of the couple not getting together, and this is hoped to be achieved in the style of editing.

2. Lighting and use of dialogue:

2.1. The dialogue is very minimal until Carl meets the character of Maddie, this leaves the audience in suspence as to what he is thinking and going to do next.

2.2. The lighting is mostly naturalistic for the audience to watch and believe.

3. Costume and Props:

3.1. There is a minimal amount of 'significant' costume used and seen throughout the film. The change in Carl's jogging wear is the most important part as it shows how his character is progressing in his knowledge and success of jogging, and with the girl he has met and taken a liking to, this shows his personality and lifestyle and traits (silly jogging wear, and pink dressing gown).

3.2. Props: Carl's artwork which can be seen as an important role within the film as this resembles Carl and his interests, as well as the photo album he shows the audience, as this shows him as a young child and introduces us to the idea that he has been keen on art since a very young age. There are simple props such as the toaster, TV remote, weights, earphones and phone.

4. Music:

4.1. In terms of music, we chose - 'Tres tres chic' by Mocean Worker 'Valse de paulo' by Vladimir Cosma, a clip from the TV programme 'Take me out', and 'At the airport' by John Powell. The mood and atmosphere of each of these songs coinsided with the visuals being shown and created. We are aware of the films the music came from and therefore we were immediately drawn to them.

5. 3 final products in total were created:

5.2. Magazine article

5.3. film poster

5.3.3. Excluded

6. Poster and Magazine article:

6.1. In terms of my own independent research, I initially looked at the poster 'Drive' because I really liked how visually engaging the poster was and how vibrant the colours were, which immediately drew my attention. I also liked the fact that not too much information was given away which then left us, as the audience asking and wanting to know more of what the content entailed.

6.1.1. Materials

6.1.2. Personel

6.1.3. Services

6.1.4. Duration

6.2. My poster: For our overall film poster we have a photo of our two characters together however, there whereabouts and doing are unknown. The characters expressions and body language are very contrasting which leads the audience wondering what may have led them to this outcome, which I thought would be quite intriguing as an audience member; we didn't want to give our storyline away immediately.

6.3. Magazine Article: When it came to writing the article, I initially looked at other film reviews so I could understand how and what type of thing to write. I included how we got to our film idea, the process in which we did this, the outcome, reactions to our actors, and inspiration in which led us to the unique idea.

7. Inspiration

7.1. We took inspiration from the film 'Hitch' and also the short film '3x3' both are comedies but with very different storylines. We took the comedic romantic aspect from Hitch and the awkward and atmospheric side from 3x3 and then merged our ideas from both into one.

8. Camera shots: Within the cinematography, we made sure to hold back information so that not everything was revealed to the audience at once. For example, showing one thing meaning another (pan) this can be seen when Maddie is waving to what it looks like Carl due to the long shot however, the audience soon realise she is waving to a passer by. - Long shots to show his location - Close up's to help us form a relationship with both the characters, as well as allowing the audience to understand what they may be thinking.
