3.1. Jim Norman is a teacher whose brother died when he was twelve. Jim finds out that some of his students were involved in his brothers killing, which makes Jim insane. In the end of the story he seeks revenge

4.1. The story takes place in America at Harold Davis high. The setting should not be scary but because of the demons and description the setting gets scary.

5. Author

5.1. The author is Stephen King and he is a horror writer. The text was published in 1974 which means that it isn't the old classic gothic story but a more modern version.

6. Characters

6.1. Jim Norman: Jim Norman is a 25 year old teacher at Harold Davis High. He teaches different classes but "Living with Literature is special because the class consists of sports jocks and criminals. Jim older brother was murdered when Jim was twelve and his mother died of cancer. Jim is mentally disturbed because of his past. He hallucinates and one time he sees some kind of monster at the school.

6.2. Chip Osway: Chip is one of Jim Norman's students. In the first part of the story he is very menacing towards Jim but then he confesses things to Jim about Vinnie's and Roberts assault plans. He then disappears without anyone knowing where he is.

6.3. Robert and Vinnie: Robert and Vinnie are one of Jim Norman's students and they are very menacing throughout the whole story. They don't like Jim and he and Jimmy know that they once killed his older brother.

7. Narrator

7.1. The narrator is a third person narrator. It is a limited omniscient narrator, because the narrator only is "all-knowing" about a single character. Page 102: He has a dream and the narrator changes into a different kind of narrator. A second person narrator. Stephen does this to get the readers more involved in the text.
