1.1. Application of Phallic Stage: Claire is very self obsessed and it is shown when she tells the other members of the breakfast club she most likely won't talk to them again. Claire also has an abnormal family situation with her parents which she explains, saying that her parents always fight and she wants to get back at them. Claire also shows sexual anxiety and doesn't want to admit she is a virgin, toward the end of the movie, Claire gets out some of her sexual anxiety with Bender.

2. Imagery Audience- refers to the belief that a person is under constant close observations by peers, family, and strangers

2.1. Application of Imagery Audience: Claire talked about how she had to keep her image and how she always had to go along with her friends ideas and opinions. She said that she couldn't be friends with the people within the breakfast club at school because she would be looked at weirdly by her friends and they would make fun of her. Claire believes that she is always under close observation by both her friends, and strangers.

3.1. Application of real self: Claire's real feelings and true personality came out when all of her peers were sitting in a circle. She explained that she didn't like being pushed around by her friends and she talked about her family. Real traits of kindness and compassion came to the surface during this scene in the movie. Claire's personality also came out when she did Allison's makeup. Claire showed how nice she actually was.

4. Ideal self- the perception of what one should be or would like to be

4.1. Application of ideal self: Throughout the first part of the movie before Claire's real self came out, she tried to make herself seem like a pure, popular girl who did nothing wrong to get into detention. She strived to make others believe that she was fit the role of the perfect girl, though later in the movie we began to see her flaws.

5. Surface Traits- personality characteristics easily seen by other people.

5.1. Application of Surface Traits- Everybody else in the breakfast club thinks that Claire is condescending and stuck up in the group. They think this because she is popular. The other people hadn't had much interaction with her before in school, so this is what they have made their opinion about her.
