Character Analysis

2. Outside- On the outside we perceive what Holden is doing as disgusting , and wrong and irresponsible. Inside- If you don't jump to conclusions , you can see that Holden is just lonely , confused and impressionable. He believes that he will get some sort of satisfaction after he hires a prostitute, but in the end all it does is leave him feeling more lonely and disgusted with himself.

3. Holden got so desperate for affection that he hired a prostitute.

8.1. Holden's own insecurities and inability to be able to connect with people causes him to critic and look down upon on their flaws.

8.1.1. Outside- What you see is Holden being rude and looking down upon these girls for their flaws Inside- Holden is unable to connect to these girls so he turns his insecurities out on them by making fun of them.

9. THESIS- The actions of some people don't always accurately reflect what they are feeling inside.

10. Holdens roommate is your typical high school stud. Holden never quite had a girl who was remotely intreted in him other than his old neighbor.

10.2. Outside- You see Holden's anger and lashing out on stradlater Inside- Holden is jealous of Stradlater , and therefore hates him

11.1. Holden is embarrassed of all his mistakes and how his life turned out so he lies to make his life seem more interesting.

12.1. Holden never developed a relationship or connection with any girl through out the story , So I think its caused him to resent and judge girls throughout the story.
