3.2.1. Their number system was based on the number 60, like ours is based on the number 10. They used this when they came up with 60 minutes in an hour and 360 degrees in a circle

4.1. Sumerians

4.1.2. They used cylinder seals that had carvings on them, they would use these to roll across clay to make writings
4.1.3. The Sumerians invented one of the first forms of writing
4.1.4. Also learned to divide day and night into 12 hours each.
4.2. Shang/Zhou
4.2.1. They specialized in the making of iron tools
4.2.2. Crafted many kinds of bowls and vases for storage
4.2.3. Learned how to carve in jade
4.2.4. Started off using bronze before they found iron
5. Government and Leaders
5.1. Sumerians
5.1.1. Each city-state had its own ruler
5.1.2. These leaders had different names such as lugal, en, or ensi
5.1.3. The most famous king was Gilgamesh of Uruk
5.1.4. 2300bc king Sargon of Akkad starts conquering the first empire in world history
5.2. Shang/Zhou
5.2.1. King Wen was the first Zhou king, from 1099bc
5.2.2. Ruled by and Eperor
5.2.3. Belonged to a highly stratified society ruled by aristocracy
5.2.4. they liked to participate in a lot of warfair
6. Religion
6.1. Sumerians
6.1.1. They believed that their role in the universe was to serve the gods
6.1.2. They also thought Earth was a flat disk surrounded by a hollow space
6.1.3. They had lots of gods, they all were in the form of humans
6.1.4. Even though the thought of the gods as immortal they could still be hurt
6.2. Shang/Zhou
6.2.1. Practiced Confucianism
6.2.2. Believed that heaven controls life on Earth and life passes from parent to child
6.2.3. Belived that everything works better in balance
6.2.4. Also belived Taoism
7. Geography
7.1. Sumerians
7.1.1. Because of these rivers it made the ground very fertile for farming
7.1.2. Surrounded by the Tigris and Euphrates rivers
7.1.3. Areas not by the river were very dry
7.1.4. The river flooded alot there
7.2. Shang/Zhou
7.2.1. They were located on the Yellow and Wei rivers
7.2.2. To prevent flooding from these rivers they used an irrigation method and flood control
7.2.3. Occupied central China
7.2.4. Haojing was their capital
