3. Reading Journal

3.1. Journal Entry #1 I am so tired of this journey. I want to back home to my mother. But instead of going back home I have to pretend I am an indentured servant. I live in Captain Pierce’s cabin. He died during the fight between the pirates. A pirate named Peter lives with me in the same cabin. Peter is one huge person. I wanted to be in Carolina right now, but we are on our way to New Orleans. I needed to talk to my uncle. I needed his advice on what to do. I walked in to where he was staying. He was sitting down on the floor. Colonel Gower is telling me to turn into a spy. I think I was up to it. Besides it would be easy getting information out of Peter. He doesn’t same like the smartest person in the world.

3.2. Journal Entry #2 Creighton has changed a lot since the beginning of the book. Before he used to go out with his friends playing cards and drinking. Now that he is in the colonies things are different. Creighton has become more responsible. He has been helping Dr. Franklin in the printing shop for quite a while. Even though he is trying to escape he later on switches to the American side because of the things the British have done. Creighton has shown bravery to go against his uncle. Back in England Creighton did not have these characteristics before but now he does.
