Netiquette and Civility in the Online Classroom

1. What is Netiquette? Scheuermann, L., & Taylor, G in there online article say "Netiquette is derived by merging the words network and etiquette. More specifically the term netiquette has been described as the conventions of politeness recognized on Usenet and in mailing lists."
2. Be professional. Keep a respectful attitude. Stay on topic and stay within the norm of your fellow students. Also follow online student protical you would find in the syllabus.

6. Although most student would agree that since online college uses a forum, why shouldn't they be able to use slang or memes? Netiquette is absolutely necessary for a harmonious and civil online college environment. If students didn't have to follow netiquette, that the online class would be complete chaos and hard to follow with everyone using different fonts, font colors, and using short hand abbreviation or slang like lol, emoji, or posting Memes about anything and every thing related or not.
6.1. What does civility mean? Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines civility as follows: polite, reasonable, and respectful behavior.
6.2. What does this mean?
