2. African was inferior compared to White. White settlers exploited black labor and more and more wanted to expand territories. The more expanding the more black labor sources was needed.

2.1. Reading "Jefferson's Notes on the State of Virginia". Jefferson stated that black were inferior compared to White, but we have never viewed them as subjects of natural history.

2.2. Afican abolition and Civil War

2.2.1. Reading: "African Americans". African people wanted their freedom and equal right. Abolition also included white people. However some white abolition wanted to free slaves but didn't consider black people equal to them.
