1.2. Firewalls - Virtual screens that prevent malicious software from reaching the server or client.
1.3. Passwords - Personalized strings of letters and numbers that are unique to accounts. Prevents people from logging into anyone's account.
2. Popularity
2.1. Dot-Com Boom - a huge movement in investment for technology and internet websites in the 90s. Led to the internet becoming mainstream.
2.2. Accessibility - Can be accessed from basically anywhere that has landlines or cell service
2.3. Information - Users can access information from anywhere on almost any subject. The internet has more information than any library in the world.
3. Globalization
3.1. Connects the world in a new form of instant communication.
3.2. Global market forever changed. Goods and services can be traded instantly online.
3.3. Expands education in developing countries. The internet provides the people of these 3rd world countries with information that can help them better their country.
